Verstappen unimpressed with Renault's 'same old song'

Max Verstappen says Renault's claim that its all-new 2019 power unit will represent a significant step forward is just "the same old song" from the French manufacturer.

Renault Sport F1 boss Cyril Abiteboul revealed that limitations with its existing engine design have enticed the manufacturer to develop a brand new unit for next season, and one that he hopes will finally put Renault on a par with its Mercedes and Ferrari rivals.

Verstappen says he's heard it all before however, the Dutchman - obviously frustrated with Renault's performance this season - hammering in a few more nails into the engine supplier's coffin before Red Bull Racing's upcoming switch to Honda.

"I'd have to see it," said Verstappen. "Four years ago they said that too, then three years ago, then two years ago.

"It's always the same old song. I don't care. I'm totally not thinking about that. I'm looking forward to the challenge we have with Honda now."
