Nearly 25 years before Formula One cars actually race in the Middle East at Bahrain and Abu Dhabi, a grand exhibition took place in the UAE under the “Dubai Grand Prix” moniker.

Pictured above is former grand prix winner Patrick Tambay in a Theodore, while a certain Vijay Mallya also took part in the 4 December 1981 event driving his own Ensign.
