Scuderia Ferrari paints the Piazza Duomo red!

Ferrari ramped up its 90 years celebrations in Milan on Wednesday with an event held at the city's famous Piazza Duomo that showcased the Scuderia's past, present and future.

A glittering scarlet red line-up of iconic cars embodied the Italian outfit's extraordinary heritage, with a host of great champions from the past on hand to honor the team and the memory of its founder, Enzo Ferrari.

Alain Prost, Jean Alesi, Gerhard Berger, Rene Arnoux, Eddie Irvine, Luca Badoer, Ivan Capelli, Giancarlo Fisichella, Kimi Raikkonen, Antonio Giovinazzi and Felipe Massa were flanked by past management notables that included Luca di Montezemolo, Cesare Fiorio, Jean Todt, Stefano Domenicali and Maurizio Arrivabene, as well as Vice President Piero Ferrari, CEO Louis Camilleri and current team boss Mattia Binotto.

Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc enjoyed a front row view of the packed Piazza while Scuderia hopefuls Giuliano Alesi, Callum Ilott, Mick Schumacher, Marcus Armstrong, Robert Shwartzman and Enzo Fittipaldi were also present.

The high point of Wednesday's "90 Years of Emotion" celebration was undoubtedly the moment when ACI president Angelo Sticchi Damiani took to the stage to confirm Monza's new five-year deal with F1, news that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
