The FIA's World Motor Sport Council has given official approval of new tyre testing regulations to allow Pirelli to prepare for the 2017 changes. Track testing is an area Pirelli has not been allowed to exploit, and provokes a reminder of how F1 used to allow much more extensive running. Here, Michelin was testing tyres at the end of the 2004 season at Jerez, with more than 15 trucks on location in Spain.
