This weekend in China, Aston Martin F1 is paying a heartfelt tribute to the late Eddie Jordan, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 76.

The team’s cars, adorned with the iconic Jordan Grand Prix logo - a red heart within a white shamrock - celebrate the legacy of the Irishman whose vision laid the foundations for Aston Martin’s current F1 journey.

Eddie founded Jordan Grand Prix in 1991, a team that evolved through various iterations to become the modern Aston Martin outfit.

The tribute, prominently displayed on the AMR25’s rear wing, reflects the deep respect for Jordan’s contributions to motorsport and remarkable legacy.

Aston Martin Executive Chairman and F1 team owner Lawrence Stroll, said the following:

"Eddie Jordan was a true racer, a great leader, and one of the biggest characters in our sport," said teh Canadian.

"He was a friend who I have known for more than thirty years and I will miss him greatly. My thoughts, and those of everybody at Aston Martin, are with his family and friends."

As Team Silverstone races in Shanghai, the emblem serves as a poignant reminder of Jordan’s enduring impact on F1, uniting past and present in a fitting homage.

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
