A LEGO portrait, a lasting memory: Hamilton fans remember Roscoe

Lewis Hamilton has shared a heartfelt tribute to his beloved dog Roscoe, who passed away earlier this month.

The Ferrari driver posted a photo on Instagram of an extraordinary LEGO portrait crafted by fans, capturing Roscoe’s spirit with intricate details like a Ferrari-suited figure and a Formula 1 car.

The outpouring of love from fans worldwide has deeply moved Hamilton during this difficult time.

"This lego portrait of Roscoe really touched me," the seven-time world champion wrote. "The amount of detail in it is incredible and I can’t imagine how long it took. Thank you to Karen and Ilona for making this and sending it to me.

“I also want to take a moment to thank all of you for the outpouring of love that there’s been since Roscoe’s passing. It’s still very painful and will be forever, but all of the support is helping me through this tremendously.

“I can’t thank you all enough. Many of you out there have also lost a pet so I know wherever Roscoe is he’s got tons of friends. He’s surrounded by love and good vibes, just as he was when he was alive.”

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
