Alex Albon pops the question to Lily He!

Ladies, Alex Albon is officially off the market!

Amid a packed off-season schedule flying by faster than a Williams down Monza’s main straight, Albon still found the time to make one very important move.

The Anglo-Thai racer has finally proposed to long-term partner and pro-golfer Lily He.

In true Albono fashion – blending that trademark dry wit with a whole lot of heart – Alex shared the news with a Polaroid and a caption on Instagram that every long-term couple can relate to:

“I guess we’re stuck with each other now!”

Williams were quick off the line with their reply, calling it the “Best news ever!”, while friends and rivals alike joined the celebrations.

Messages poured in from fellow drivers including Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly and Charles Leclerc, who knows a thing or two about engagement announcements of his own.

It caps off a period where smiles have come easily for Albon. On track, the 29-year-old delivered his strongest campaign yet in 2025, finishing eighth in the Drivers’ Championship, despite a challenging second half of the year, and helping Williams lead the midfield fight.

Best season yet. Best news yet. And if this is what Albon does with a short off-season, 2026 might want to watch out.

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
