Palou strums his way to Music City glory with Monday masterclass

Talk about a killer weekend for Spain! Just one day after his home country hoisted the FIFA World Cup trophy, Alex Palou delivered a masterclass performance of his own at Nashville Superspeedway.

Striking all the right chords on a rain-delayed Monday afternoon, Palou conquered the Music City Grand Prix to snag his fifth victory of the season and the 24th of his impressive career.

Starting fourth, Palou played the strategic game to perfection. He ducked into pit road a mere three-tenths of a second before a yellow flag flew, cycling him right into the lead.

Over the final grueling stint, Palou held off a hard-charging field on sticky alternate tires while nursing his primary rubber, holding his line and slicing through traffic with surgical precision.

"That’s a pretty cool weekend for Spain," a beaming Palou remarked after taking his first-ever Monday victory. "I’m happy to top it off today."

Oval master Josef Newgarden threw everything he had at the champion, finishing a close runner-up by just .8731 seconds. Meanwhile, David Malukas pulled off the drive of the day – rebounding from a practice crash and starting 25th on the grid to complete an electric podium.

With an 83-point lead in hand and six races left, Palou is strumming his way straight toward a record-tying fourth consecutive Astor Challenge Cup!
