In January 1979, Carlos Reutemann was beginning his tenure with Team Lotus at his home Grand Prix on the circuit in Buenos Aires. The Lotus in Argentina even sported a local sponsor (which was not an insignificant deal), but was powerless against the new Ligier of Jacques Laffite, who won comfortably.
