The 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix was probably one of the best events in recent years with Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg embroiled in a fierce race-long battle for victory at Sakhir.

Having jumped Nico at the start, the 2008 world champion was leading his team-mate by 10 seconds when a late Safety Car period forced both drivers to dive into the pits for their final stops.

With strategies being split at Mercedes, Hamilton had to take on the medium tyres while Rosberg could go for the softer compound. This led to an epic 13-lap dash to the finish that saw Lewis forcefully defend his position against a faster Nico.

The pair went side by side on several occasions and Rosberg even managed to overtake his team-mate at the first corner… only for Hamilton to cut back and reclaim the position. The Briton eventually prevailed after what had been a fine display of sheer race craft.
