Some parts of the Renault R.S.17’s bargeboards are made out of metal. The latter material is solid but also easier and faster to work with than carbon. And it allows for very thin leading edges. In Abu Dhabi, the metal components probably housed pressure sensors to collect valuable data ahead of 2018.
