Russian Grand Prix driver ratings

After Mercedes secured the constructors’ championship thanks to Lewis Hamilton’s win in Sochi, F1i looks at how each driver performed in the Russian Grand Prix and gives a rating out of ten

Lewis Hamilton - 1st place, 25 points: 8/10

Not Hamilton’s finest race but as he put it himself he was “sensible” en route to a crucial victory. Rosberg had the better of him in qualifying but Hamilton knew he didn’t need to take too many risks at the start and duly slotted in behind his team-mate. Built a comfortable gap which negated a rear wing concern late on, but it would have been interesting to see how he would have fared if Rosberg hadn’t retired…

Andrew first became a fan of Formula 1 during the time when Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill were stepping into the limelight after the era of Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell and Aryton Senna. He's also written professionally about GP2 (now Formula 2), GP3, IndyCar, World Rally Championship, MotoGP and NASCAR. He worked for many years in magazine production at Bauer Media, and for over a decade he was part of the digital media team at the UK government's communications department.
