The Swede didn’t have reason to smile after Saturday qualifying with P19 when his team mate comfortably advanced to Q3. And yet, he claimed to be pleased with his lap. After a poor start, Ericsson was filling up Hartley’s mirrors on lap 11 and stayed there for the next 45 laps, but without ever making a serious move. Without the exclusions of others he wouldn’t have scored a point on a day where his car had the potential to finish a whole lot better.
