F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2019 Australian GP

Antonio Giovinazzi (ITA) Alfa Romeo Racing C38.

Antonio Giovinazzi (P15): 5/10

This isn't Antonio Giovinazzi's first F1 outing - remember those two races at the start of 2017 where he filled in for an unwell Pascal Wehrlein? - but a lot has changed since then, not least with the rebranding of the Sauber team as Alfa Romeo. With increased funding and closer ties to Ferrari, much had been expected from the squad and from Giovinazzi. But the Italian didn't really manage to make his mark in Melbourne this weekend, although problems for other drivers in qualifying meant he made it into Q2 and started the race from a promising 14th place on the grid. Giovinazzi made early progress in the race thanks to the team's idea to run a super-long first stint, but as degradation set in it all rather backfired and he plunged down the order following problems with his pit stop. Unable to rebound, he finished seven places behind his daunting team mate Kimi Raikkonen.
