Lando Norris (P12): 6/10
Lando Norris was the star of Saturday's qualifying session, putting McLaren into Q2 while his more experienced team mate fell at the first hurdle. It was a great way for the 19-year-old to make his mark in Melbourne, and perhaps inevitably the race itself didn't live up to these prematurely raised expectations. He dropped two places at the start of the race and this cost him dear after the pit stops, where he ended up trailing around in 12th place for the rest of the afternoon. Norris himself admits he made mistakes and was annoyed with how he did, but that's being a little hard on himself - painstakingly learning how to fulfil one's potential is pretty much the job definition for a rookie, after all. And he still had a much better weekend than his no-luck McLaren team mate Carlos Sainz.
