F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2019 Japanese GP

Lando Norris (P13): 7/10
After a great start to the season, Lando Norris is now having a maiden season more typical of that of a rookie driver. He was tenth in both practice sessions and duly made his way into the final round of qualifying on Sunday morning, but was unnecessarily harsh with himself over a number of perceived mistakes he made on his final flying lap in Q3 which left him short - but only just - of the pace of his McLaren team mate. Even so, he started the race from eighth on the grid and made up two spots on the opening lap before clashing with Alexander Albon at the chicane. By then, Norris had picked up debris in his brakes from Charles Leclerc's disintegrating front wing and was required to make an unscheduled pit stop on lap 4 that dropped him to the back. A new set of medium tyres allowed him to claw his way back into the points, but a second stop for hard tyres for the second half of the race left him struggling to regain the lost ground.
