F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2019 Brazilian GP

Sebastian Vettel (Retired, Lap 66): 7/10
As with Charles Leclerc, Sebastian Vettel's rating for the Brazilian Grand Prix has been downgraded as a result of the huge blunder that took place on lap 66 in which contact between the two Ferraris caused them to retire from the race instead of picking up fourth and fifth place finishes. And while we're not going to make a huge thing about it, the blame does seem to lie more at Vettel's door than Leclerc's. For one thing, Vettel is older and more experienced and should know better. He was the one who moved slightly and initiated the wheel-to-wheel contact, and why was he fighting his team mate so hard anyway given that Leclerc was on fresher tyres and should have been released to hunt down the three cars ahead of them? It seems worryingly like a return to Vettel's troubled early season misjudgements just when his recent performances and results had indicated a resurgence for the four-time world champion. Instead, it ended up being another example of Ferrari's unique talent for tripping over its own feet and squandering valuable opportunities. If they take this habit into 2020 it will be another season in which the championship inevitably slips through their fingers.
