Romain Grosjean (P13): 7.5/10
Romain Grosjean was thrilled on Saturday, when both he and his team mate made it through to the final round of qualifying, the first time both Haas cars had achieved the feat since the Spanish Grand Prix six months ago. To be honest, it was rather a surprise - not just because of their recent form, but because neither driver had particularly distinguished themselves in the three earlier practice sessions during this weekend either. Whatever brief burst of good fortune they had soon evaporated when it came to the race itself, with Grosjean overtaken by Kimi Raikkonen and Charles Leclerc in quick succession during the opening laps. His unfortunately timed pit stop on lap 26 plunged him all the way down from seventh to 16th, but he kept working away at the task ahead of him and had recovered all of that lost ground by the time the safety car was scrambled for Valtteri Bottas' retirement. Unfortunately he lost multiple positions at the restart which came when his tyres were already starting to seriously struggle, and he continued to plummet until finally pitting for fresh rubber simply to allow him to get to the finish line in one piece.
