George Russell (P12): 7/10
It's not quite his best result in his maiden season (he was 11th in Germany back at the end of July) but Brazil was still a very good showing from George Russell who continued to impress despite the drawbacks of the Williams hardware. The first wet practice saw him quicker than Kevin Magnussen, Lance Stroll and both Alfa Romeos (as well as his likely 2020 team mate Nicholas Latifi) and while it was business as normal in FP2 and FP3 he still enjoyed a half second advantage over Robert Kubica in qualifying. Unfortunately for Russell, the Pole got the better start on Sunday and he found himself in the less than happy position of trailing at the back of the field for much of the first stint. He finally got around his team mate on lap 20 but it looked unlikely that he would make any further progress from there. However the safety car for Valtteri Bottas allowed him to unlap himself, and the confusion around the second caution saw him gain two further positions before the chequered flag. Nico Hulkenberg's five-second penalty then promoted Russell to a highly creditable 12th place post-race.
