2015 F1 season: F1i’s drivers review 21-11

Motor Racing - Formula One World Championship - Brazilian Grand Prix - Qualifying Day - Sao Paulo, Brazil

20. Kimi Raikkonen - 6.68/10

While fourth place in the drivers’ championship is a huge improvement from 12th the year before, Raikkonen still remains in the shadow of his Ferrari team-mate. This year it was Sebastian Vettel rather than Fernando Alonso who was comfortably beating the Finn, and Raikkonen could rarely point to a weekend where he was quicker than the four-time world champion.

Bahrain was the only occasion when Raikkonen beat Vettel in a relatively straight fight, with his fourth place in Canada seeing him hand Valtteri Bottas the final podium spot as Vettel finished just one place adrift of the 2007 world champion despite starting from 18th place. Ultimately, finishing fourth to third-placed Vettel in the drivers’ championship highlights how much better the Ferrari was this year, but it’s the fact that Raikkonen scored only 54% of his team-mate’s points which shows how often he underachieved.
