F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2020 Styrian GP

Esteban Ocon (Retired, Lap 25): 7.5/10
It's still early days for Esteban Ocon at Renault, but he's improving nicely. Practice this week was a fairly quiet affair - a tenth slower than Daniel Ricciardo in the morning, and then the team's only standard bearer in the afternoon once Ricciardo crashed out. But he was seriously impressive once the rain rolled in on Saturday and one of the stars of a drenched qualifying which saw him through to Q3 and secure sixth on the grid. Unfortunately he didn't have a chance to make much impression on the race itself: ceding position to Ricciardo on lap 18 was an early sign of cooling issues on the R.S.20 which forced him into retirement a few minutes later, his promise unfulfilled.

Nicholas Latifi (P17): 6.5/10
It's still early days for Nicholas Latifi, but he's already showing promise as he improves week-on-week with solid performances. While slowest of the Friday morning runners, by the afternoon he'd found enough pace to go quicker than both Haas cars. And then on Saturday, despite this being his first experience of F1 in the wet, he was able to stay in touch with Williams' nearest rivals and take 18th place on the grid. His race was relatively unremarkable and he spent most of the afternoon circulating at the back, but at least he didn't make any big mistakes - unlike George Russell, who soon joined him in the rear guard after running off track. A shame to see Williams back at the back when clearly there's a lot more to the FW43 this year.
