McLaren Applied Technologies designed the MP4-30’s steering wheel, though it is very similar to its predecessor on the MP4-29 (see bottom picture). The middle rotary dial allows the driver to adjust the settings depending on the spec of tyre his car is shod with (slicks, inters, or full-wets). It’s worth mentioning that the “OT” (overtake) and DRS activation buttons are located on the back of the steering wheel, while its lower part was planed ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix to offer more leg room to Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button.
