F1i's Driver Ratings for the 70th Anniversary GP

George Russell (P18): 6/10
We expect a lot from George Russell, but this weekend he was only able to deliver in fits and spurts. He was 15th fastest in first practice but seemed to fade over the ensuring sessions; when it came to qualifying he was able to continue his run of making it through to Q2 despite being impeded on his first run by Esteban Ocon, but it was a close-run thing and thanks in the end to Daniil Kvyat running wide in the final minutes. Unfortunately it wasn't a great Sunday for Russell, who lost positions at the start. Any hopes of making a recovery were effectively dashed when he was forced onto a three-stop strategy by tyre wear issues. It's sad to see Williams back at the back after all their recent progress, but hopefully it will prove to be just a glitch rather than a trend.

Antonio Giovinazzi (P17): 5.5/10
It's not really looking any better for Alfa Romeo, with both cars starting the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix from the back row of the grid after a particularly poor qualifying session that had itself only confirmed their struggling performance in the earlier practice sessions. Antonio Giovinazzi did make up a handful of positions at the start of the race, thanks in part to deciding to start on the medium compound tyres, but that necessitated an early pit stop that dropped him all the way to the back. He was lucky that both Williams were forced to make extra stops later in the race which enabled him to claw his way back up to 17th at the line, but it had been a fairly painful time for the Italian at Silverstone this week.
