F1i's Driver Ratings for the 70th Anniversary GP

Sebastian Vettel (P12): 4.5/10
We really don't enjoy handing out poor ratings to a four-time world champion, but this was probably the worst showing of the season so far for Sebastian Vettel - and that's saying something. He was struggling to get anywhere near the pace of his team mate in practice and was four tenths slower than Charles Leclerc at the end of Friday. There was a certain inevitability when he missed the cut again at the end of the second round of qualifying. But then it got even worse at the start of the race when he cut across the kerb going into turn 1 and spun out. He was able to continue but was now at the back, and he was further frustrated by a Ferrari strategy call that saw him come out from a pit stop right in the middle of traffic. Still, throwing a very public strop is no way to endear yourself to a team that is probably already looking forward to your imminent departure.

Pierre Gasly (P11): 7.5/10
Pierre Gasly really deserved a championship point for all his hard work this weekend, but alas it wasn't to be. After a quiet time in practice during which time he slowly reeled in and passed his team mate in the timesheets, he then produced some excellent flying laps in qualifying to reach the final round and pick up a surprisingly strong seventh place on the grid for the race. In the race, he was one of the first drivers called in to the pits to trade mediums for hard tyres, and after that things were never quite the same again. He'd just managed to get back into the top ten when it was time for his second stop of the day. It left him stuck behind Daniil Kvyat for the remaining laps and most of his efforts had to go into containing Sebastian Vettel all the way to the finish line.
