F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2020 Belgian GP

Nicholas Latifi (P16): 6/10
Nicholas Latifi was narrowly quicker than his Williams team mate George Russell in first practice, and was ahead of both the unfortunate Haas cars on Friday afternoon despite the Williams not being best suited to the long straights and sweeping corners at Spa. He had a particularly strong final practice - 13th on the timesheets putting him not only ahead of Russell and the two Haas drivers, but also both Ferraris! - but this didn't translate into a good showing in qualifying and he once again found himself starting from the back row of the grid. He suffered from a slow pit stop when the race was neutralised for his team mate's accident, and spent the rest of the afternoon duelling with the two Haas cars, eventually managing to successfully claim the scalp of Kevin Magnussen before the chequered flag.

Romain Grosjean (P15): 6.5/10
Like his Haas team mate, Romain Grosjean was completely sidelined by technical issues on Friday morning and the pair were understandably slowest when they finally got going in the afternoon session. When it came to qualifying, it would have been a minor miracle of Grosjean had succeeded in getting beyond Q1 - and it just wasn't that sort of weekend. Starting from 17th on the grid, he dropped a place on the first lap but after that managed to make some progress though the backmarkers and ultimately had the surreal experience of fighting for track position with the Ferrari works cars. Looking set for 14th place, he ended up losing out on the final lap to Charles Leclerc. "We wouldn't necessarily haven taken P15 this morning if offered it," he admitted, "but what we would have taken is to be able to fight with Ferrari."
