F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2020 Russian GP

George Russell (P18): 5.5/10
Not a great weekend for George Russell, who for once found himself struggling to keep up with his Williams team mate Nicholas Latifi in practice. As he has done so often this season he pulled it out of the bag in qualifying with a brilliant final run in Q1 that saw him survive the cut and get through to the second round, but there's no disguising the fact that nothing went right for him on Sunday. One of the cars forced wide at turn 2 on the opening lap, he took the opportunity to make an early switch to the hard tyres and spent a fun few laps jousting with his friends Alex Albon and Lando Norris who had all found themselves at the back of the field for the restart. However in the process Russell flat-spotted those new tyres and was forced to make a premature second stop just 13 laps later, this time for mediums which didn't manage to last the distance without a further, third stop four laps before the end. As a result Russell finished dead last, admitting afterwards: "We were not good enough today".

Romain Grosjean (P17): 6/10
There were a few glimmers of light for Romain Grosjean this weekend, but unfortunately the eventual final outcome was as dismal and pointless as usual. Slowest of anyone at the end of Friday's practice session, Grosjean perked up slightly in final practice but was always doomed to be among the first five to be eliminated in qualifying - and he missed out by a rather sizeable four and half tenths to Sebastian Vettel. That left him starting from 16th place, and this actually worked to his favour: with so many cars running wide or hitting problems on the opening lap, Grosjean and his team mate Kevin Magnussen were able to leap up into the top ten in time for the restart. Despite the car not really having the pace to justify such a lofty position, he managed to hold on to it until the first round of scheduled pit stops put him back down to 15th, but a lack of rear grip took its toll and resulted in a decline over the last 15 laps that not even a second stop for fresh tyres could address.
