F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2020 Eifel GP

Esteban Ocon (Retired, Lap 22): 7.5/10
Unfortunately we didn't get to see all that much of Esteban Ocon this weekend, who just missed out on the top ten in practice on Saturday morning. He did find just enough in the afternoon to claw his way into the final round of qualifying where he looked rather brighter, moving ahead of Sergio Perez and both McLarens to take up seventh place on the grid having finished the day only 0.019s off Daniel Ricciardo's best time. Unfortunately Perez and Lando Norris both got the better of him at the start and he then spent much of the race trailing behind the Racing Point. He was clearly planning on a longer than usual first stint despite starting on the soft tyres, and had made it to lap 21 and on course for a possible top five finish when a sudden hydraulic failure killed the car and left him rolling to a stop as he attempted to return to the Renault garage.

Alexander Albon (Retired, Lap 23): 6/10
Unfortunately this wasn't a good weekend for Alex Albon, and may have inadvertently reopened the door on all that speculation that Red Bull might decide to look elsewhere for 2021. He was almost six tenths slower than his team mate in practice, and didn't get all that much closer in qualifying although it was still enough to secure fifth place on the grid meaning he lined up right behind Max Verstappen for the start. However he lost out to Daniel Ricciardo when the lights went out, and then flat-spotted his tyres forcing the team to bring him in early which dropped him to the back of the field. He ended up in a careless collision with Daniil Kvyat that cost the AlphaTauri its front wing and Albon a five second penalty together with two penalty points on his superlicence. He appeared to have flat-spotted his tyres again when he returned to pit lane on lap 23, but in fact it was because a sharp stone had penetrated the RB16's radiator causing overheating issues that necessitated immediate retirement.
