Category #5: deceleration

The speed difference between how fast a car goes on a straight line and how quickly it tackles the subsequent corner is another useful indicator in determining the difficulty of a braking procedure.

Brembo has found that F1 cars register the biggest deceleration at Turn 8 of Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit. Approaching that corner at around 326kph, the drivers then have to slam on the brakes and reduce their speed to a ‘pedestrian’ 62kmh.
