Nicholas Latifi (P16): 4.5/10
Nicholas Latifi didn't do much wrong this weekend; he just didn't do much right either. Or anything at all really, as he fast approaches his departure point from Formula 1 following his swan song next week. In his defence, this was a rather limp week for Williams as a whole with his team mate Alex Albon faring little better albeit for different reasons. Latifi was P17 in first practice and the changeable conditions in qualifying meant he was up to 16th before narrowly missing the cut at the end of Q1. Running wide in final practice left the Williams carrying damage into the sprint race and did him no favours, and he came a predictable last which meant he joined Albon starting the Grand Prix from the back row of the grid. Stuck at the back for much of the afternoon, he lucked out when Yuki Tsunoda made a very late pit stop and wasn't allowed to unlap himself behind the safety car as Latifi had been, keeping him safe in P16 to the finish line.
Alexander Albon (P15): 6/10
Alex Albon continues to bring out the best in the Williams, and 12th place in first practice was duly rewarded with 11th in qualifying after he narrowly missed the cut at the end of Q2 in variable weather conditions. Who knows, if he had made the cut and Williams had taken the same intelligent decisions as Haas did with Kevin Magnussen, it could have been Albon celebrating a maiden pole. Unfortunately it all went wrong for him in the sprint race where he was the only driver to retire, leaving him starting the Grand Prix from the back of the grid on Sunday. With little to lose he made an early stop behind the first safety car that allowed him to run longer in the race, and he was in 11th by the time he came in on lap 26. After that he was mired in the bottom five and tangling with the likes of Yuki Tsunoda, Zhou Guanyu, Pierre Gasly and Mick Schumacher as well as his own team mate Nicholas Latifi. Passed by the leaders on lap 47, he got his lap back under the second safety car but it was far too late to make any forward progress once the race restarted.
