FORCE INDIA GETS A BIG SCREEN

For a midfield team like Force India, introducing a new steering wheel is a massive investment. That’s why the Silverstone-based outfit kept a small-screen version over the past two seasons.

The new VJM09 has been fitted with the larger PCU-8D model designed by McLaren Applied Technologies and first launched in 2014. Its bright frontage is currently made out of composite materials that will be eventually replaced with carbon.

McLaren is also using a new steering wheel on the MP4-31. The slimmer model was first sampled at the Japanese Grand Prix last year.
