Logan Sargeant, Williams (Accident, Lap 23): 4.5/10
Most of Logan Sargeant's rating for this weekend comes from Saturday, where he made it into the second round of qualifying for the first time this season. That was despite the tricky conditions that were catching out many more experienced drivers. Unfortunately in the race it was another matter entirely and he looked painfully lacking in confidence. He went off and lightly clipped the barrier at turn 6 in the opening laps and then had a more substantial accident on lap 24 that left him unable to continue, resulting in the first safety car of the afternoon being scrambled just when Lando Norris was romping away with the race.
Charles Leclerc, Ferrari (Power unit, Lap 40): 5.5/10
Coming just two weeks on from one of the high points of his career to date with victory in his home race in Monaco, this wasn't so much a return to earth with a bump as it was a total crash landing with no survivors. The weather masked Ferrari's problems on Friday but they were laid bare by the shocking result of qualifying where neither Leclerc nor Sainz made it through to the final round, the first time that the team has been absent from Q3 since Spa 2021. Maybe it was an early sign of the power unit problems that beset him on the race but more likely it was the team's ill-advised gamble to run used softs at the end of the second round. In the race the power unit problems left him resorting to a ridiculously early change to slicks to try and retrieve the situation. That badly backfired and he was lapped by Max Verstappen, at which point enough was enough.
