Valtteri Bottas, Sauber (Retired, lap 30): 5/10
After a solid showing in qualifying on Saturday, Valtteri Bottas' race unraveled spectacularly by the first lap, courtesy of a tangle with Sergio Perez that earned the Finn a penalty from the stewards . From there, things only went downhill – literally and figuratively. In a move that could generously be described as “optimistic,” Bottas compounded his woes by clattering into Kevin Magnussen, adding a puncture to his list of troubles and ending his evening with a DNF. As Bottas bids farewell to Sauber, one suspects the sentiment is mutual – no love lost, no tears shed, just a shared sense of relief to move on.
Liam Lawson, RB (Retired, lap 55): 7/10
Liam Lawson enjoyed a strong opening stint on the medium tire that carried him all the way up to sixth in the running order, but it all went wrong for the Kiwi when poor execution by his crews during his pitstop and a loose front left wheel forced him back into the pits for another stop. I have soldiered on only to retire with two laps to go.
