10. Fernando Alonso – Aston Martin
Championship final position: 9th
Best Finish: 5th
Best Qualifying: 3rd
Surprised to find Fernando among our Top Ten? Perhaps you shouldn’t be. With 14 top-10 finishes out of 24 races and 70 of Aston Martin’s 94 points, Fernando Alonso still delivered solid performances in 2024, finishing 9th overall in the Drivers’ World Championship. While his campaign doesn’t rank among the Spaniard’s most memorable F1 seasons, the veteran once again demonstrated remarkable resilience as Aston Martin went from last year's big surprise - at least in the first half of the season - to a monotonous midfield contender.
At 43, Alonso likely knows that his glory days in the sport are behind him. Yet, like Lewis Hamilton, seeking to heal from the bitter conclusion of his Mercedes chapter, the two-time World Champion’s fire still burns bright. Expect Alonso to keep chasing every opportunity for strong results in 2025 and beyond—depending, of course, on the tools Aston Martin can provide to fuel his fight.
