Under the skin of the Haas VF-16

F1-Haas-under the skin-6

STEERING AWAY FROM FERRARI

While Ferrari has manufactured Haas’ steering wheel, the US team is using a different model from the Maranello works outfit.

As part of new-for-2016 regulations, double-clutch systems have been banned but there are still two paddles on the VF-16’s steering wheel. Both engage the clutch in the same way but they make it easier for a driver to get going again after a spin, regardless of where his hands are on the steering wheel.

All other teams have actually kept a pair of clutch paddles… save for Ferrari. The Scuderia only has one that takes up the whole width of the steering wheel and can be either pushed or pulled.
