Vettel acknowledges Ferrari could have got its strategy better in the race but he was left buoyed after a clear step forward this weekend. Competitive in qualifying, it’s a sign of Vettel’s standards that he apologised to the team for a little bit too much wheelspin at the hairpin. It mattered not as he leapt into the lead with a stunning start and pulled a strong move on Daniel Ricciardo in the race but there were a few too many lock-ups and missed chicanes which showed just how hard he was pushing in pursuit of Hamilton.
