A really impressive recovery drive from 20th on the grid, Sainz deserves a lot of credit for his performance. Managed to jump up to 16th place with an excellent first lap, and went for an aggressive two-stop strategy which he pulled off perfectly. Emerged in 18th after his first stop on lap 13 but was 11th five laps later and showed great pace to threaten Hulkenberg, eventually finishing 5.6s shy of what was the optimum result even without his qualifying mistake. Excellent performance.
