TORO ROSSO – STEADY ON THE BRAKES

The carbon brake discs of an F1 car are mounted around the wheel hub, which is hollow on the Toro Rosso STR11. The discs are 28mm thick, weigh around 1.2kg and are protected with a series of carbon casings that also help offer better cooling for the brake system (discs and pads). These shells can vary depending on the circuit (compare the third and fourth images), when they don’t differ from one side of the car to the other. This was actually the case for STR11’s front brakes in Hungary.
