In 1970, Chris Amon joined the newly established March team. The effort looked promising, Amon even winning - yes, winning - the non-championship Silverstone International Trophy.
But development problems affecting the Cosworth DFV and a relatively poor handling chassis, along with budget constraints, kept Amon out of the running most of the time.
Spa was an exception however, the Kiwi hounding Pedro Rodriguez's BRM for all its worth in a thrilling race around the perilous Ardennes track, finishing mere feet behind the Mexican.
