2016 Malaysian Grand Prix - Driver ratings

Motor Racing - Formula One World Championship - Malaysian Grand Prix - Race Day - Sepang, Malaysia

Max Verstappen - 2nd place, 18 points - 9/10

Verstappen will view this is a win that got away, pointing to two pivotal moments. Having impressed in qualifying to start third, Verstappen was caught up in the first corner incident with Vettel and Rosberg and dropped to fifth under the Virtual Safety Car [VSC]. Despatched both Raikkonen and Perez within a few corners and then attacked a two-stop strategy which saw him close on Ricciardo and attempt to pass his team-mate, who he appeared to have the edge on all weekend. A good battle was neutralised by another VSC which saw both cars end the race on softs, and Verstappen had to settle for second.
