TORO ROSSO KEEPS IT COOL
Current 1.6-litre V6 turbocharged units and their components – internal combustion engine (ICE), gearbox, both motor-generator units (MGU-K and –H), control electronics – have high cooling demands. The many radiators fitted on the car must be fed with cooling air via complex ducts and teams use computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in order to come up with their designs.
On the images above, one can notice the complexity of the Toro Rosso STR11’s airbox intake, which splits into five carbon-made ducts (including the side inlets).
