6. Sebastian Vettel - 7.39

Vettel was unable to hit the heights of 2015 in a less competitive Ferrari, but his season was far from a disaster. Should have won in Australia but for a poor strategic call, and then was unable to start in Bahrain when his power unit failed on the formation lap. Taken out by Kvyat at the start in Russia, in the first six races he finished Vettel came home: 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 2nd, 2nd. Silverstone was not a particularly strong race and only had himself to blame for retirement in Malaysia - where he again wrongly blamed a Red Bull for causing him to make a mistake at the start - but aside from those blips he finished in the top six at every round. The main question mark is whether Raikkonen improved again this year or Vettel’s performance level dipped a little after a lack of progress from the team. Probably the latter, but still drove well in the third-fastest car, and was one of only two drivers this season to be given 10/10 for his drive from the back to fifth in Singapore.
