Championship leader Lewis Hamilton says he is keen to “test a MotoGP bike” and “do a NASCAR race one day”.
The Mercedes ace, who entered the traditional summer break with 21 points on hand over team-mate and title rival Nico Rosberg, explains he was initially drawn to two wheels before starring on fourth.
“When I was a kid I wanted to race motorbikes,” Hamilton told The Mirror’s website.
“When my dad bought me my first go-kart I actually wanted a motorbike. I’m not disappointed how things have turned out but bikes were my first love I suppose.
“I’d also love to test a MotoGP bike just to see what it’s like. Naturally I’d know the lines but I’d love to know if I could even do it.”
Back in 2011, Hamilton had the opportunity to sample three-time Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart’s Chevrolet Impala at Watkins Glen, a former grand prix venue located in New York State.
The British two-time world champion now says he would like to up the ante and follow in fellow F1 racers Juan Pablo Montoya and Kimi Raikkonen’s footsteps by competing in America’s premier racing series.
“I’d really like to do a NASCAR race one day”.
