Felipe Massa says Williams “needed to change” on a number of fronts in 2014 in order to be able to maximise its potential this year.

While Williams often had the second quickest car last year, Red Bull was the only team other than Mercedes to win races as it took three victories. Having finished third in the constructors’ championship in 2014, Massa says Williams is a completely different team to 12 months ago because there were so many areas that needed to be improved on.

“I feel more comfortable inside the team,” Massa said. “I saw so many things here last year that we needed to change that it was not so easy just to sit and say a lot of negative things that we need to change.

“It takes time, the team does not change from one day to another but I think the team changed a lot and it was really a good change and good growth together in so many different areas.

“You don’t win a championship by just being good in one area, you need to win the championship by being good in most of the areas. I’m really looking forward to when everything is more complete and we can fight in a much better condition than we were fighting last year.”
