Lewis Hamilton is backing Formula 1's plans to add another US race on the calendar and would love the second venue to be New York City.
The Formula One Group CEO Chase Carey reiterated recently his ambition of organizing a second race in America in addition to the event staged at The Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
"We have a great partnership with the circuit in Austin," he said,
"But we believe we can add a race in a 'destination city', as I call it. I'm talking about New York, Miami, Los Angeles or Las Vegas."
The Big Apple definitely has the favors of Lewis Hamilton.
"In New York it would be really cool," the triple world champion said in Russia.
"We definitely need two grands prix in the US. It would be incredible -- it's a stunning city. New Jersey would be a great backdrop for the grand prix.
"Whether it's a night race, I think even the day it would be good, or the evening as the sunsets are stunning and with New York in the background it would be so cool."
