Fernando Alonso delivered a brilliant performance in Sunday's Fact Nine Shootout, clocking in with the fifth fastest time and a place on the second row of next Sunday's Indy 500.
The McLaren-Honda-Andretti driver had a lot to contend with before his last gasp effort, like a last minute engine change and still a huge lack of experience compared to the seasoned drivers which surrounded him.
"With everything that has happened today being among the top five is a dream," Alonso said at the end of his run.
"Fifteen days ago I would never have thought about fighting for the pole. Thanks to the whole team. Now another week of learning and race next weekend."
Check out the four laps that brought Alonso P5 on the Indy 500 starting grid.
