Robert Kubica puts 115 laps under his belt in Valencia!

It's just a short snippet but the videos below posted on Twitter show Robert Kubica flying around Valencia this afternoon in a 2012-spec Lotus E20.

The 32-year-old Pole has been slowly but surely ramping up his single-seater training lately, testing a GP3 car in Italy over a month ago before sampling a Formula E car a few weeks later.

Renault  invited Kubica to Valencia to privately test its Lotus E20 showcar, and while the car is a far cry from F1's current machinery, it's probably an ideal proposition for Kubica to gauge his overall ability and test the strength and endurance of his impaired right arm.

Kubica put the 2012 car through its paces, completing a total of 115 laps.

Could Renault perhaps provide the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix winner with a proper run in a hybrid car?

If they do, than it will be a sure sign that Robert is on the comeback!

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
