Esteban Ocon made good use of the 'block' button on Twitter recently, showing the door to some discourteous fans of team mate Sergio Perez.

The Force India pair's recent run-ins in Canada and Baku led Mexican supporters of Perez to express in no uncertain terms what they thought of the 20-year-old, sending their vile comments to the Frenchman's Twitter account.

But Ocon obviously doesn't take kindly to abuse and sent the social media perpetrators back to where they came from.

"I blocked them because they insulted my parents, and that is not healthy," said Ocon.

"It's just a sport -- we fight hard, but we're not murderers. So people need to calm down."

Is Ocon worried about travelling to Mexico later this year for his team mate's home race?

"I think everything will be fine," he insisted.

"I never said anything bad about Mexico. I like the country, I had a great time there in the past and I have a good relationship with Sergio."

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
