Lewis Hamilton regained the upper hand for Mercedes in Saturday's tricky and weather-impacted third free practice session.
Hamilton just edged out Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel in a session which saw most drivers preparing early on for this afternoon's qualifying run to avoid incoming rain.
Hamilton's advantage over his title rival was just 0.032s and a little under a tenth of a second over team mate Valtteri Bottas.
Kimi Raikkonen was P5 in front of Nico Hulkenberg who completed another impressive session behind the wheel of an ever-improving Renault.
Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo was sixth but almost ended the morning in the wall after spinning on the main straight when a drizzle set in around Silverstone countryside.
Romain Grosjean was seventh for Haas while Max Verstappen in the second Red Bull also tried to force the issue on the damp track, enduring a inconsequential spin.
Felipe Massa and Stoffel Vandoorne rounded out the top ten, with Fernando Alonso in P11.
