Sam Bird was the master of Formula E's double header in New York, winning Sunday's race with a commanding performance in Brooklyn.

The DS Virgin Racing driver put in a flawless performance to lead home the Mahindra combo of Nick Heidfeld and Felix Rosenqvist.

Poleman Bird wasn't the fastest man off the line however, leaving Rosenqvist to head the field into Turn 1. He remained hot on the heels of the Swede however, mounting a successful attack on lap 10 of 49, right after a brief Safety Car period.

Bird took off from there, never putting a foot wrong, helped by optimal strategy by the DS Virgin outfit which perfectly timed his pit-stop rotation which occurred a lap later than most of his rivals thanks to an extra dose of stored energy.

The Brit crossed the checkered flag 11.3s clear of the field, and putting himself fourth in the drivers' championship in the process.

Behind the Bird-Heidfeld-Rosenqvist trio, Formula E rookie Pierre Gasly was fourth also it was a messy finish for the Renault-e.dams recruit.

Gasly caught up with the Mahindra pair before the checkered flag but hit the wall and crossed the line with a damaged front end.

Absentee Sebastien Buemi's championship rival Lucas di Grassi limited the damage with a fifth place finish put just didn't have the pace to challenge the front-runners and take more points out of Buemi's lead in the series.

Prost, Dillman, Vergne, Frijns and d'Ambrosio rounded off the top ten.
