Verstappen and Ricciardo patch up around a beer!

Max Verstappen personally delivered a peace offering to Daniel Ricciardo after the teenager punted his team mate out of the Hungarian GP.

Ricciardo's race on Sunday was over by Turn 2 after Verstappen, who had lost a position to the Aussie at the start, attempted an over-zealous move and hit Ricciardo, inflicting terminal damage to the Red Bull.

The Honey Badger lost his trademark grin for the rest of the afternoon, qualifying Verstappen's ill-inspired maneuver as a "poor and amateur mistake".

Verstappen owned up however after the race, apologising to Ricciardo and personally delivered a peace in the form of two bottles of Dutch beer to share among themselves.

"Did I drink both beers? What do you think?" Verstappen told De Telegraf.

"Max apologised to me and took the blame 100 per cent," Ricciardo told Germany's Auto Bild.

"I accept the apology so I'm done with it, but it's impossible to change what happened anyway."

Red Bull motorsport boss Helmut Marko was a bit critical however of the 10-second time penalty handed to Verstappen by the Hungarian stewards  for his on-track misdeed.

"It was an overly severe punishment, but this may have something to do with the past when he was impetuous," he said.
